The Little Things

Image
Currently I seem to be interested in making small things. I am appreciating small things and small gestures.  I wanted to learn more crochet and hooked up with my Calabrian penpal to make the Peacock Feather mandala. I used up leftover knitting cottons. I mounted it onto a floor polishing pad I purchased at the hardware store!  I have been having fun sitting on the sofa with Bo and playing at the rigid heddle loom. I am in the midst of making some blue and white mug rugs.  A small thing that tickles me. At an art gallery in Buda I saw these little natural crystal drawer pulls. Dear friend JH bought it for me. It is amethyst!  And with Valentine's Day coming up I could not resist these mug rugs. Also woven on my rigid heddle loom.

Mr says he bought it for me, which is a sweet thing to say, but it is a vehicle for both of us. He will be selling our old truck and this will be the only one for use at Home South. I am looking for any excuse to go for a drive now. I adore the colour and the handling is perfect! I am having trouble entering a space after the gas range photo, so here we go ahead of the photo. This purchase was a necessity. The old range was already when I moved into this house many years ago. And a couple of important things were not working anymore. So I found an early holiday sale and this lovely range came to live with us. I just love the variable burners. For someone like me who loves to cook, this was a ...

Weaving 101

Image
The efforts of my recent Weaving 1o1 class. We worked up scarves? /tablerunners? (let's call them practice bits) on a rigid heddle loom. While I have experience weaving, it was on frame looms and floor looms. So this was a good refresher plus an introduction to the rigid heddle loom. Most of the time was spent preparing the warp threads and getting them onto the loom properly. A great class!
